Young Climathon happening in Valencia, Spain – 29.11.2019

Young Innovators is up and running in Valencia!

After several inspiring working sessions on participatory methodologies and tools, such as visual thinking and climate action in the five Secondary Education Schools that have participated in the project, a Young Climathon will be held on 29th of November. A total of 220 students from 12-18 years old will participate.

Young Climathon is a one-day event in which students work on climate challenges close to their usual context in order to analyze them and propose strategies for management and action.

Using innovative didactic tools of analysis and visual thinking, several teams of students coordinated by active and trained teachers will work on climate challenges looking for solutions.

Challenge for the Young Climathon in Valencia:

Nature-based solutions: Solutions that combine biodiversity and green spaces for resilient cities through climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Important themes: ecosystems, flora and fauna, basic needs in cities, nature and cities.

The program of the day: 

09:00    Reception of participants at the auditorium.

09:10    Brief intervention of the collaborating Institutions.

09:20    Welcome. Brief summary of the project and objectives of the day.

09:30    Intervention of Valencia Climate and Energy. City Council of Valencia.

10:00    Oral presentations of Secondary Schools´ actions.       

11:15    Short break.

11:45     Group work on the challenge (parallel sessions).

13:00    Plenary session.

14:00    Lunch and group photo.

15:00    Conclusions and Closing Ceremony.

16:00    Return to Secondary Schools.
